How Can I Get Myself to Do What I Know I Need to Do?
“A Vision is nothing more than a Dream so clear, so vivid that nothing can discourage you from achieving it and No One can ever steal it from you.”
Have a bigger dream, and reasons to go after this so as to overcome the tendency to simply remain the same. Forget your excuses, and just make yourself do the things you know you have to do to get you where you want to be. You will actually find it fun to discipline yourself to do something. Do this every day! It feels good to accomplish something that was perhaps a little difficult at first. Practicing personal discipline makes you feel better about yourself!
The power of your why is what motivates you through the grueling, mundane and laborious task. All of the how’s in life will be meaningless until your whys are powerful enough. Until you’ve set your desire and motivation in place, you’ll abandon any new path you seek to better your life. If your “why power” -your desire- isn’t great enough and the fortitude of your commitment isn’t powerful enough, then you’ll end up like every other person who makes a New Year’s resolution and gives up too quickly then reverts to living a life of ho-hum mediocrity. Not you, not anymore!
The person who has a clear, compelling and white-hot burning reason why will always defeat the best of the best at doing the ‘how’. We see this reality played out repeatedly. It’s where greatness and extraordinary achievement comes from.
It’s time we unlock that deep seeded passion and embolden you with the indomitable power and fortitude of your “Why Power” -Darren Hardy

“Self-Discipline is the ability to do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not.” -Elbert Hubbard
How Will You Measure Your Life?
Once I met a great woman, great in genius, great in personality, great in expression. She was preparing for some great endeavor. I was fond of her and eager for the world to have the privilege of enjoying her great gifts. Always she said, “Not yet, but I am going to do it.” Then she went on studying, always with this discordant urge within her; Whenever she came to me, I said, “why don’t you begin…. Won’t you please do something to give yourself a chance?” Yes, she would, she was “going to do it.” 10 years have passed and she has never done it. Today, after 10 years of foolish resistance and wear and tear on the physical side which repressed genius always brings, she is the decay of a glorious selfhood, lacking that subtle essence of divine command within her own soul. She has lost all, and will have to give this incarnation to the development of a consciousness that can direct her own soul into failures. “Going to do it” never gets anyone anywhere. The world is full of those who are “going to do it” and so it is full of failures.
There are a determined few who never lose sight of aspiring to do something that’s truly meaningful to them. But for many of us, as the years go by, we allow our dreams to be peeled away. We pick our jobs for the wrong reasons and then we settle for them. We begin to accept that it’s not realistic to do something we truly love for a living.
Too many of us who start down the path of compromise will never make it back. Considering the fact that you’ll likely spend more of your waking hours at your job than in any other part of your life, it’s a compromise that will always eat away at you.
But you need not resign yourself to this fate…. I want you to be able to experience the feeling of waking up every morning thinking how lucky you are to be doing what you’re doing…. The feelings of accomplishment and of learning, of being a key player on the team that is achieving something meaningful. – Clayton Christensen
If we’re working on a task or project that’s difficult or unappealing it is so easy to succumb to the distraction. That prevents us from getting things done. The more often we do this, the more it becomes a habit. A BAD habit! – The quality of our lives = the quality of our thoughts = the quality of our habits.
Procrastination is an invisible disease which takes a talented individual with great potential and turns him/her, slowly, bit-by-bit, over time, into a complete and utter failure. – Terry Gogna
The watchword of success is DO IT NOW!
Controlling our focus is the single most important thing in life.
What you focus on is how you feel. -Tony Robbins
Appetites:
There is wonderful abundance surrounding us as well as captivating temptations. Which foods will nourish you? Which foods cause you harm? Food isn’t just like medicine, it is medicine! We have a ‘pharmacy’ in our body, food is an epigenetic modulator. So also, is sugar and processed food – in a very bad way! What we eat greatly affects how we think. A major health topic today is the brain-gut connection. Perhaps this is a reason why 80% of the population are half-hearted about their work.
Besides food, psychologists say that our brains feed on negative triggers. While our computers and phones are phenomenal tools that help us work, they are also purposefully designed to addict us!
Social media, video games, YouTube, checking email or the news can be extremely addictive. Protect yourself from all toxic or addictive substances!
Most jobs and many leisure activities – especially those involving passive consumption of mass media are not designed to make us happy and strong. Their purpose is to make money for someone else. If we allow them to, they can suck out the marrow of our lives, leaving only feeble husks. – Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
Eat for energy eat to be well. If you were given the opportunity to grow your brain, grow more cognitive power, creativity, would you go for that?
Contrary to popular belief, your brain, that wonderful house of thought and creativity is up for growth!
How do processed foods and sugar work in your life? Increased inflammation, trigger diabetes, heart disease, also take away our ideas and steal our cognitive power. There is nothing more sad than to see a loved one decline before your eyes
Every time I take a bite of something, every time I put something into my body, it is going to create a chemistry.. Is it going to be awesome? Empowering? Is it going to be creative and courageous? Or am I going to take down my game? What you eat affects everything around you. Everything you value, so choose to eat well. You can’t out train a lousy diet. – Dr James Rouse
I have countless ways of gaining control of human minds…my greatest weapon is poverty. I deliberately discourage people from accumulating material wealth because poverty discourages men from thinking and makes them easy prey for me. My next best friend is ill health. An unhealthy body discourages thinking.
People who have not mastered themselves overfeed the appetites. Self-mastery contemplates sufficient control over the appetites to enable one to feed them what they need and withhold food not needed. The majority of people are so weak in self-discipline that they fill their stomachs with combinations of rich food which please the taste but overwork organs of digestion and elimination. When people eat wisely their body is sound and their brain functions properly. – From: Outwitting the Devil, by Napoleon Hill
Leaders stand for something so clearly and so passionately that others are moved to action. We tend to become like the people we attend, so associate with successful people, And so the best way to learn leadership is to work closely with a great leader.
If you truly believe that by being successful in what you are doing will make this world a better place, which in turn will warm God’s heart to the point of shedding tears of joy, would you still hesitate to do that, which you know you need to? – Terry Gogna
